The Millennium
The thousand-year reign and final judgment
The Millennium
1
- THE MILLENNIUM The Bible tells us that Jesus will come again and will put an end to this world’s history, as it has been flowing since the fall of Adam and Eve. The history of the universe, though, will continue even after this culminating event.
Jesus’ plan, as described in the Bible, is concluded by a period of one thousand years that will finally allow God to put an eternal end to sin and death.
- WHAT WILL BE ONE OF THE MAJOR EVENTS THAT WILL HAPPEN AT JESUS ’ SECOND COMING?
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17) When Jesus will come, the dead in Christ shall rise incorruptible and the living saints shall be instantly transformed.
- WHERE WILL THE SAVED GO AT JESUS ’ SECOND COMING?
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; John 14:1-3 As Jesus will come, all the saved who lived in history shall meet Him on the clouds of heaven and thus always be with Him.
Jesus promised that the place where He would have brought the saved at His coming is a place that He prepared in His Father’s house, in heaven (where He went, see Acts 1:11).
3. How Long Will the Saved Be in Heaven?
Revelation 20:4-6 The saved are those who partake of the first resurrection (as distinct from the rest of the dead who will not live again until the end of the thousand years).
They shall reign together with Christ for a thousand years.
4. What Will the Saved do During This Millennium in Heaven?
Revelation 20:4 They that will live and reign with Christ for a thousand years will also be those that will sit on thrones and to whom judgment will be committed.
While the saints will enjoy the beauty of heaven, they will have the important task of judging the cases of those who opposed themselves to God’s kingdom. 2 10. The Millennium – Menorah Mission School – 2018/2019 God is so open and honest that He will give the saved the opportunity to review His judgment and see by themselves if everything has been done in the best way, answering their questions in regard to those who will not be among the redeemed ones.
5. Which Cases Will Be Taken Into Consideration in This Judgment?
1 Corinthians 6:2-3 The world will be judged by the saints. The term “world” biblically represents the exact opposite of the term “saints” (see 1 John 2:16-17).
Angels will be judged as well. More specifically those who will be judged here are fallen angels, to show to those who are judging the reasons why they lost eternal life.
6. What Will Be Revealed About Those Who are Judged During the Millennium?
1 Corinthians 4:5 Things which are hidden in darkness. The counsels of the hearts, in other words, the very motives behind their actions will be revealed.
Everything will be revealed about them, in order for the judgment to be fair.
7. Where Will the Lost Ones Be During This Time?
Revelation 20:4-5; Jeremiah 25:33 The lost who will be dead before Jesus’ second coming will continue to sleep until the end of the Millennium.
Those who will be alive at Jesus’ second coming, but who are not among the saved, will die in this culminating event.
8. What Will Be the Condition of the Earth During the Millennium?
Jeremiah 4:23-26 It will be without form and void, as it was before creation. There will be no living man and the cities will be destroyed.
9. What Will Satan do During This Thousand Years?
Revelation 20:1-3 He will be imprisoned in the bottomless pit. The Greek word for “bottomless pit” is the word abussos, which is the same word that we find in the Greek translation of the Old Testament for the deep/abyss described in Genesis 1:2 .
In other words, Satan will be imprisoned on earth during the millennium experiencing the same conditions that were on earth before creation. 10. The Millennium – Menorah Mission School – 2018/2019 3 He will not be able to deceive the nations during this time, because there will be no living man on earth for him to influence.
10. What Will Happen at the End of the Thousand Years?
Revelation 20:5,11-13; Revelation 20:7; John 5:28-29 Jesus will resurrect the lost ones, to let them know the reasons of the judgment in their regard.
With all these people resurrected, Satan will again be free to tempt and deceive, being this way free from his symbolic chains. This second resurrection will not be for salvation or life, but for condemnation.
11. What Will Come on Earth at This Time?
Revelation 21:1-3 The New Jerusalem will come down on earth from heaven. After the thousand years the saints are still together with Jesus, coming on planet earth with Him and the New Jerusalem, the city where they will dwell throughout eternity.
12. What Will Satan Try to do? What Will Be the Final Outcome?
Revelation 20:7-9 Satan will tempt the nations to fight against God and to try to conquer the Holy city. The nations will follow him, showing that their condemnation has been a right one.
The final outcome of this will be eternal destruction. The Bible calls this the second death.
13. Will Sin Survive Somehow This Final Destruction?
2 Peter 3:10-13 Sin and sinners will be completely destroyed by fire. God will create new heavens and a new earth in which only righteousness dwells.
Appeal
He wants us to “come now” to Him and discuss our case with Him today, that we may be cleansed from our sins, be changed by His love and follow His will, starting from now.
He wants us to be on His side, close to Him, that we may continue to be with Him forever, as He promised to His disciples (see John 14:1-3). 4 10. The Millennium – Menorah Mission School – 2018/2019 He is honest and sincere in His dealing with us. Doesn’t He deserve that we do the same with Him?
The greatest benefit out of it will be ours.
