The Great Commission

The call to share the gospel with the world

The Great Commission

1

  1. THE GREAT COMMISSION Jesus’ death on the cross has given every human being the opportunity to be saved. Jesus will not come back before the message of the gospel will have been given to the whole world (see Matthew 24:14). In this last study, we will see what is our part in the spreading of this lifesaving message.

1. How Can We Defeat Satan?

 Revelation 12:10-11 Through the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God, and through the word of our testimony. To share with others how Jesus changed our life will give others the opportunity to accept the gift of salvation, expanding God’s kingdom on this earth.

  1. WHAT WAS THE AIM OF JESUS ’ FIRST COMING?

 Luke 19:10 Jesus has come to seek and save lost humanity. He left His place in heaven and the worship of angels in order to come on this earth to look for us and to teach us how precious we are for Him.

Since the very beginning, right after the fall of Adam and Eve, God began His rescue mission to call us back to Him (see Genesis 3:8-10).

  1. WHAT WAS JESUS ’ MAIN ACTIVITY WHEN HE WAS ON THIS EARTH? WHAT ABOUT HIS DISCIPLES?

 Mark 1:14-15,38-39; 3:13-15; 6:7,12-13 Jesus was going in all places preaching the gospel of the kingdom. He sent His disciples to do the same thing, to cast out evil spirits and to heal the sick.

The disciples, as such, had to follow the master and to learn to do what He was doing. Since Jesus was here for the salvation of human beings, his disciples’ duty was exactly the same.

4. What Commission did Jesus Give to His Disciples After His Resurrection?

 Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus left to His disciples the commission to make other disciples. God’s work advanced from generation to generation thanks to faithful disciples who trained new disciples for the work of salvation.

We are to do the same that God’s work may grow and last in time. 2 27. The Great Commission – Menorah Mission School – 2018/2019

5. What was Motivating Paul in the Preaching of the Gospel?

 Romans 1:14-16 The apostle Paul felt he was in debt with those who did not know the gospel. He could not help but sharing the good news (see 1 Corinthians 9:16 and 2 Corinthians 5:14).

He was not ashamed of the gospel because he experienced himself the power of God that is in it, which is able to bring salvation to all those who choose to believe in it.

6. What Ministry Has God Given to All Believers?

 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 God has shown us His clear will to reconcile the world with Himself, through the life and death of Jesus.

Accepting Jesus as our personal Savior, we accept the call to be messengers for God to the world, inviting others in behalf of God to be reconciled with Him.

7. What Importance Should the Preaching of the Gospel Have in Our Lives?

 Matthew 13:44-46; Matthew 6:18-21 The kingdom of God must have the first place in the lives of all who want to be part of it. We need to give priority in our lives to what really matters over the things of this world.

If we consider our readiness for the kingdom of God and the bringing there our family, relatives and friends together with us a greater richness than those of this world, our hearts, our most intimate hopes and desires, will be in the safest place they could possibly be.

8. Will It Always Be Easy to Share the Gospel with Others?

 Psalm 126:5-6 In Matthew 13, the preaching of the gospel is compared to a sower in a field. Sometimes it’s hard, as the psalmist wrote, to spread the seeds of the gospel and we will be tempted to give up in tears.

But we need to look by faith at the sure results and joy that a faithful work for God will bring forth for His kingdom.

9. Who Has the Greatest Need That We Share the Gospel?

 1 Corinthians 9:16, 22-27 We do! It is the Christian’s necessity to share the gospel. It is a call that God gives to us knowing that it will be also a mean of preparing us for His kingdom.

The best way to keep practicing what we learned is to teach it to others, keeping ourselves spiritually fit, active and involved, making then sure that we won’t give way to the enemy. 28. The Great Commission – Menorah Mission School – 2018/2019 3 If the sharing of the gospel is our focus, this will be a great help for us to live faithfully and finally partake of the blessings of the saved.

Appeal

But how are the people going to call on Him if they don’t believe in Him? And how are they going to believe in Him if they never heard of Him?

There must be someone who brings the good news! God has sent us. We must go! Who do you think God is calling to share the gospel with your family, friends, neighbors and colleagues? Isn’t God calling you for this most precious work? Wouldn’t that be wonderful even if just one of them would accept Jesus through you?

Do you take the decision today to be a faithful disciple of Jesus and engage in your daily life in voluntary witnessing to others in answer to Jesus’ great commission?
